The Vanguard Apartments consists of six housing units overlooking wetlands near Multnomah Village in Southwest Portland. The units are stacked in a boxcar like fashion to provide cross ventilation and access to natural light from more than one side. Two narrow sites were combined to create a property large enough to support a group of living spaces flooded with natural light and wrapped in cedar siding and cement fiber board.
